About 2.30pm emergency services were called to Goolma Road, about 10km west of Gulgong, after a Toyota Yaris and a Triumph motorcycle collided.
The motorcycle rider, a 55-year-old Quakers Hill, man died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, a 68-year-old woman, was not injured. She was taken to Mudgee Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Police from Central West Crash Investigation Unit are conducting inquiries into the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
SUNDAY: One person has died in road crash involving a car and motorcycle at Goolma Road, near Gulgong, this afternoon.
Police and emergency services are attending a scene of the crash which occurred around .2.30pm.
Traffic travelling towards Gulgong or Mudgee from Wellington is being diverted via Dunedoo.
The road is expected to remain closed until at least 8pm tonight.
