It will donate 105 upright freezers to 34 schools, volunteer organisations, sporting bodies and charities, including St Vincent de Paul, the Rural Fire Service, Ronald McDonald House and the RSPCA.
CareWest was grateful to receive 20 of the freezers, which will be used across 14 group supported accommodation homes in the 4C complex in Orange and a second facility opening in Bathurst.
CareWest senior finance manager Tony Pierce said Electrolux had approached the organisation to receive the products.
“Day-to-day items such as these freezers are part of enabling CareWest to assist people live their lives,” he said.
“Currently the homes have a normal fridge/freezer set-up. The extra freezer capacity will give our group homes more flexibility with how they shop such as buying in bulk.”
Electrolux spokesman Craig McCarthy said the intention was always to donate remaining stock, but the company had to wait to confirm how much was available.
“This is the last chance we will have to donate any fridges or freezers to the city of Orange,” he said.
