Police were called to the scene at Yarrabar, 15 kilometres south of Dubbo, about 2.30pm on Friday.
The Rural Fire Service had two appliances attend with four fire fighters for fire protection.
Ambulance officers also responded to the scene, but neither of the members of the vehicle required treatment or transport.
The Newell Highway was closed in both directions, with light vehicles diverted via Narromine and Tomingley roads and then the Mitchell Highway.
Heavy vehicles were held at the accident site until the road reopened shortly after 4pm.
