Last Sunday's meeting, which included a number of heats, was abandoned but the forecast for this weekend's meeting looks much more kind.
The highlight of Peak Hill's Carnival of Cups will be the running of the $10,000 Lady Drivers Invitational (2250m).
"I am so pleased to have received acceptances from nine of the area's best female drivers and am really looking forward to this race and the day," Peak Hill club secretary Di Stiller said.
Trainer Steve Turnbull may very well hold the best hand in the Lady Drivers Invitational as he will be represented by two of the top hopes in the race, namely Cullectomatic and Coldplay Road.
Cullectomatic was a Bathurst winner four starts back and has the services of inform driver Emma Turnbull.
Coldplay Road, to be driven by former Parkes' Jess Prior has won three of his past five starts at Bathurst, the most recent being on June 1 when he rated a slick 1.56.8.
Dubbo's hopes are led by Mister Jogalong, arguably the best horse in the race, who is trained by local duo Mick and Kurt Lew.
McKayler Barnes will be in the gig of the four-year-old gelding.
Mister Jogalong has been a star on his home track but has been found wanting when he has travelled away and if Barnes can get on with the enigmatic pacer, he will be hard to toss on the roomy Peak Hill circuit.Top New South Wales driver Amanda Turnbull will drive in the feature and will guide the Nathan Hurst-trained Spanish Lustre.
Dubbo's Jacqui Ingham will partner the Katie Jenner-trained Ned Pepper who is likely to give a great sight from barrier one while Deinnocentwon (Angela Hedges for Nathan Turnbull), Freedom Is (Kasey Hocking for Phil Thurston) and Master Pip (Cindy Bourke for Wendy Turnbull) are in the race with a chance.
The $10,200 Peak Hill Ex Services and Citizens Club Pace (1800m) is the day's other feature race and appears to be a match race between the Lester Hewitt-trained pair, A Life Under Fire (John O'Shea) and Our Bella Chimes (John Vautin).
A Life Under Fire made his Australian debut at Young and was impressive while Our Bella Chimes was successful on debut at Bathurst.
The first of the eight races at Peak Hill on Sunday begins at 12.23pm.
