The Roos blitzed local rivals Rhinos 40-7 in the first 40 minutes last weekend to set up a win which moved them to second on the Blowes Clothing Cup ladder.
On Saturday they are again at home against a fierce rival, this time in the shape of the Orange City Lions.
"It will be a good challenge and a good rivalry has built up the last three or four years," McHugh said.
"...we've got to be ready for them, it will be a big game and the next four weeks for us is big but we're all looking forward to it and excited after the big win last week."
The dominant win over Rhinos finished at 54-7.
The Roos were outstanding in the first half of that match, running in six tries and McHugh wants to see a repeat effort.
"I thought that was some of the best footy we've played all year," he said.
"We died off a bit in the second half which we have to fix up because every game we've played there's been lapses of 10-15 minutes but then we switch back on.
"If we can cut that out and defend well then that will go a long way to us scoring points."
The Lions have been boosted by the return of barnstorming captain Tatafu Na'aniumotu and McHugh pointed to him as a player his side will have to be wary of.
The Orange side, who defeated the Roos in last year's preliminary final, sit fourth on the ladder, two places and four points behind Saturday's hosts.
"I was a bit surprised to see that," McHugh said of his side's place on the ladder.
"I don't look at the fixtures or anything too much so it was very pleasing to see that because we feel as a squad that we haven't hit our best form yet.
"I don't think we need to just yet but we just want to keep on winning games and playing well and improving those few little things each week."
Coach Dan Armitage has brought with him a sense of calm and patience and McHugh admitted that has flowed through the squad.
The new mentor has stated time and time again his side is a work in progress which is improving each week and his back-rower couldn't agree more.
"We're not looking to far ahead, even though we know it's a big four weeks coming up," McHugh said, with matches against Forbes, Cowra and Orange Emus following this weekend.
"If we start worrying too much about that we'll miss opportunities but if we can stay switched on in defence and patient in attack then we know we'll score points, and score them from anywhere."
The Roos have further reason to perform well this weekend with front-rower Benn Wright currently celebrating the birth of a son on Wednesday night.
Saturday's match kicks off at 3.15pm.
