Certainly not the patients and staff of Dubbo Hospital.
This week they received three of a new model of wheelchair, each costing $1595.
The hospital's Pink Ladies paid for two while Manera Heights Motel owners, Trevor and Joanne Kratzmann, covered the cost of the third.
Dubbo Hospital patient services manager Peter Woodward joined the donors this week in trying out the wheelchairs that are " a long way in front" of their predecessors.
"They are designed with hospital patients in mind," Mr Woodward said.
"The tyres don't go flat, they are very easy to manoeuvre, very light, and capable of safely carrying an oxygen cylinder.
"Patients and staff will benefit."
Mr Woodward said the hospital was gradually replacing its fleet of wheelchairs with the more stable and durable model.
Six chairs purchased by the hospital had grown to nine through the generosity of Mr and Mrs Kratzmann and the Pink Ladies, he said.
The three new wheelchairs will be used across the hospital as needed, unlike the other six that are colour-coded and assigned to specific departments.
The Pink Ladies used money given to them by the public and patients to buy the two wheelchairs.
"We see the demand for wheelchairs by patients at Dubbo Hospital and it is fantastic that the generosity of the community has allowed for this new equipment to be purchased," said Pink Ladies president Jane Grindrod.
Mr and Mrs Kratzmann come into contact with patients daily.
On any given day half of their motel's rooms are filled by health staff, hospital patients and their families.
"With both of us being former registered nurses, we understand the difference equipment like this can make in providing patient care," Mr Kratzmann said.
