Dr Ala Michalewska found career and lifestyle benefits during almost five "fabulous and really memorable" years in the regional city.
She counted a wide-ranging caseload, lovely patients and a seven-minute drive to work as advantages that flowed from the tree change.
But the love that brought her to Dubbo has also prompted her to leave -husband Shannon Marshall-McCormack is living and working in Brisbane - and before she left Dr Michalewska encouraged Sydneysiders to look inland.
"There's definitely lots more opportunities in a regional area to work but also it's a great lifestyle and I've really enjoyed it," she said.
"I've learnt so much.
"You're busy, the patients are lovely.
"There's obviously a greater demand for dentists here, so you see more people, you see all sorts of things.
"There isn't the specialists out here so you have to do more things yourself and you get to see everything and do everything."
The dental surgeon said Dubbo had everything needed, and she echoed the "Time To" campaigns of the former Dubbo City Council.
"I enjoyed my seven-minute drive to work, as opposed to sitting for an hour in traffic in Sydney, if not more," Dr Michalewska said.
"In the city most people don't travel very far out and have this misconception of what a regional town is like and it's definitely different to what some people may think.
"Yes, no traffic, and I go home at lunch, which is unheard of in Sydney, so it's great.
"So I was a little apprehensive coming but it's just exceeded my expectations, it's been fabulous and a really memorable experience."
Dr Michalewska was farewelled by patients on Friday, her last day at the Wingewarra Dental.
"Everyone's been very lovely, but also very understanding that I'm moving up to be with my husband Shannon in Brisbane," she said.
