The committee will play a vital role in developing regionally appropriate weed management strategies, as recommended by a comprehensive weeds review conducted by the Natural Resources Commission in 2014.
The review found significant differences in the effectiveness of weed management across NSW and led to the NSW Weed Reforms.
Local Lands Services Western Region manager biosecurity and emergency services, David Creeper, said its responsibilities were defined under the review.
"As a result we are required to deliver regional strategic weed management plans, facilitate and co-ordinate regional strategic weed planning and assist with education and community outreach programs," he said.
"It's important to remember that we will not take on or replace the role of local government of local control authorities in weed management."
The committee will be made up of local control authorities, landholders and community members.
