Described by Musica Viva as Australia's most internationally successful piano trio, the Streeton Trio performed for local audiences in 2013.
Their concert on Friday will explore three masterful examples of the theme and variations form by Beethoven, Smalley and Tchaikovsky.
The trio will also lead a masterclass for local musicians on Saturday and Macquarie Conservatorium director Vivienne Winther says both events are highly anticipated.
"It's great to have the Streeton Trio return for our concert series this year," Ms Winther said.
"We are looking forward to hearing an exciting program of music, and meeting their new cellist Umberto Clerici."
The Streeton Trio is husband and wife pianist Benjamin Kopp and violinist Emma Jardine, with new member, cellist Umberto Clerici.
Originally formed in 2008 in Switzerland, the trio was the first Australian ensemble to be selected for the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy, where it was ensemble-in-residence from 2010 to 2013.
The trio has studied intensively with the world's leading chamber musicians and has performed across Europe, United Kingdom, Scandinavia, China, Australia and New Zealand.
Founding members Benjamin Kopp and Emma Jardine returned to Australia in 2014, and teamed up with cellist Umberto Clerici, who came to Australia from Italy to take up the position of Principal Cellist in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
The three musicians will pass on some of their specialist knowledge in a masterclass for string and piano players on Saturday at 11am.
"Having studied with a range of the world's best teachers, the Streeton Trio musicians are highly regarded as teachers themselves," Ms Winther.
"So both the concert and the masterclass are wonderful opportunities for local piano and string students and teachers to learn hands-on from these master performers and teachers."
