Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton and Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson made the announcement as they attended the nbn (NBN Co) stand at the Dubbo Show on Saturday.
Mr Coulton said the first switch-on, scheduled for Wednesday, would see more than one-quarter of premises at Dubbo ready to access the nbn network.
"In total, there are over 16,000 premises in Dubbo being connected to the nbn network, all of which will be live and ready to access the nbn network by the end of June 2016," Mr Coulton said.
"The first switch on that will take place (on Wednesday) is ahead of schedule and will see premises in a majority of the Dubbo CBD as well as parts of north, south and west Dubbo ready to utilise this state of the art broadband network."
The NBN Co, established in 2009 to design, build and operate the national broadband network, says it will deliver fast broadband to every home and business in Australia.
Dubbo residents have watched as first preparation and then building work began on the NBN in their neighbourhoods.
Cr Dickerson said the switch on of the nbn network had been greatly anticipated by businesses and residents in Dubbo and news it would be available in the immediate future was very welcome.
"Dubbo's recent statistics are very strong with unemployment low and population growth strong," Cr Dickerson said.
"The switching on of NBN next Wednesday is the culmination of many years of hard work by our federal member with significant support from council and this will usher in a new level of growth and prosperity for our city.
"Bring it on."
To enquire about getting connected, Dubbo residents and business operators are encouraged to contact their preferred providers to discuss NBN options.
