FORTY SIX riders contested the second round of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing Series on Saturday as Ann Clark was able to keep clear of the looming scratch bunch to record her first win of the new road season on the Burroway Road course.
Clark (+4 minutes), who was an ultra-consistent performer throughout the 2015 road season, finished the 36.2km event in on hour 15 minutes and 17 seconds (average speed of 30.47km/h) and was one minute and 18 seconds clear of the second place Chris Couper (+26 minutes), with David Gerrish (+26 minutes) in third, Kurt Eather (+26 minutes) in fourth and Tim Hines (+26 minutes) in fifth.
Perfect conditions for cycling resulted in some very fast times on Saturday and with the strong numbers, large groups of riders were able to work together throughout the event. Simon Meredith (+22 minutes), Daniel Roberts (+20 minutes), Craig May (+26 minutes), Adam Mitchell (+26 minutes), Mick Ticehurst (+26 minutes), Dylan Eather (+22 minutes), Darrell Wheeler (+22 minutes), Kevin Couper (+14 minutes), Danny Barber (+20 minutes) and Chris Turtle (+14 minutes) finished sixth to 15th respectively.
Chris Couper recorded the fastest time for the 36.2km race (50 minutes 35 seconds at an average of 42.94km/h), while Julia Graham was the fastest lady on the course, recording a time of one hour two minutes and 16 seconds at an average of 34.88km/h.
A number of riders were involved in a crash during the event, which saw recent NSW Hill Climb Champion Haylee Fuller sustain a fracture to her left arm after touching a wheel of another rider and being dislodged. Clark's victory has her sitting in second place in the overall point score standings on 60 points as Gerrish's third placing ensuring he remained atop of the standings on 68 points, while Chris Couper (56 points) is place third, Kurt Eather (55 points) fourth and Tim Hines (37 points) fifth.
Jessica Fuller (0 minutes) was victorious in Sunday's junior road racing on the Sheraton road course as she used her handicap to outstay Angus Campbell (+6 minutes) and Emily Hines (+7.30 minutes), while Imogen (+10 minutes) and Makayla Fuller (+8.45 minutes) finished fourth and fifth, with Isabelle Russell (+9.30 minutes) finishing fifth ahead of Georgia Farr (+6.20 minutes).
Imogen Fuller recorded the fastest time for the event as she completed the 6km course in 16 minutes and 10 seconds at an average of 22.27km/h.
Tommy Russell again showed some great skill in the participation event, covering the 6km course in 26 minutes and 21 seconds at an average on 17.99 km/h.
Round three of the Dubbo City Toyota Road Racing Series will take place on Saturday and will be held on the Mogriguy course, with a two lap 76km race and a one lap 38km event being raced concurrently.
Junior road racing will also take place on Sunday from 2.30pm on the Sheraton Road course.
