From 10.30am to 3pm, the airport will be a hive of activity, from the high-up formation flyers to the classic car show featuring hundreds of vehicles on the ground.
The wine of the event’s title will be provided by local vineyards, each with their own tasting stall..
Mudgee Aero Club president Gary Chapman said a unique highlight this year would be the demonstration of fast and challenging radio controlled model jets.
“It is amazing the speeds and aerobatics they can do with these beautiful but very expensive scale models,” he said.
This year, the Mudgee Aero Club is presenting the air show in conjunction with Paul Bennett Airshows, an organiser of aerobatic displays around the world.
Paul Bennett himself, an Australian champion, will fly his Wolf Pitts Pro, and there will be handling and aerobatic displays by an L-39 Albatross jet, gyrocopters, helicopters and even an 85 per cent scale model spitfire with a Chev V8 motor.
“This year for the first time, we have a drone display,” Mr Chapman said.
“These professional drone operators say they are working on a drone that can carry a bale of hay and they hope to have it finished for the air show.”
The Mudgee Airport airline Flypelican will have a plane on display and another offering joyrides, and Commercial Helicopters will deliver a fire fighting water-drop display.
Mr Chapman said the Aero Club always aimed to put together a varied program, which they have certainly done this year, with easily enough entertainment for young and old to fill the day.
