Some quality dogs have been entered for the popular 318-metre maiden race and Dubbo Greyhound Club president Shane Stiff is predicting there will be some good racing.
"We have trainers coming from far and wide with some very promising dogs, Alan Pringle has some good entries, John Crossley has a couple of good ones and Dallas Messina is coming all the way from Victoria," Stiff said.
"As they are maidens it is pretty hard to tell who is going to do well. I'm really guessing like everyone else. The best indication comes from the betting."
Sunday is the biggest meeting of the year for the Dubbo club and Stiff said the big prizemoney on offer ensured the fields were high quality.
"This is the only carnival we host throughout the year and when we run our biggest races," he said.
"We have over $40,000 in prizemoney being given out, including a $15,000 race, a $7000 race and a $5000 race."
"The highlights include the Cosmic Rumble Gold Cup, Peg and Bill Miller Diggers Final and the Shakey Jakey Maiden final but every race offers at least $1000 for the win."
Other races throughout Thursday afternoon include the Dubbo Outback Tree Services Stakes (318 metres), where Pamela Braddon's Milko's Magic will be going for three wins in a row.
However starting from the challenging six box, he will face some competition from kennelmate Hurricane Rino and Ron Steel's Zena Cargo.
Three last-start winners, Magic Sunrise, Chelsea Keeping and Ballerina Son, will do battle in the Unibet Sprint Stakes with Edward Pomfrett's Senior Ballerina and Mark Wick's Diamond Diva.
The 10-race meeting gets under way with the opening heat of the Shakey Jakey series, which jumps at 12.12pm. It is followed by a further five heats then four stakes races. The final race goes at 3.13pm.
