Thursday's bake-off brought together nine "celebrity" chefs from across Dubbo's business sector and was judged by Adam Russo, owner of Russo's Coffee Bar, multi award-winning baker and Daily Liberal journalist Faye Wheeler and Big Blue Digital co-founder Leanne O'Sullivan.
Mr Kirkness blew away the competition with his range of fresh focaccias and his bakery-style chocolate chip cookies, to take home the coveted Golden Whisk.
"When I'm not baking I'm a training manager at Access Group Training," he said.
"Like most people I've had experience with friends and family who have been affected by depression, and to come together in this positive way was a great opportunity to do something about it and try to help."
Mrs O'Sullivan said the Big Blue Digital team decided on the beyondblue bake-off, to help start important conversations about depression.
"It has been far more successful than we envisaged, and that's great for community mental health," Mrs O'Sullivan said.
Andrew Bassett (Fitness Focus) was awarded the Silver Whisk for his sticky date puddings, while Big Blue Digital's own Richard Skates won the encouragement award (blue wooden spoon) for his blueberry baked cheesecake.
Kate Wright (Dubbo City Council), took out the award for the single highest fundraiser, after she raised more than $1500 for beyondblue, and also earned the Best Guilt-free Treat award for her banoffee pie.
