The program has seen a wide range of projects funded in recent years, including recreational fishing education workshops, fishing platforms and cleaning tables, artificial reefs, freshwater fish stocking, prawn stocking in estuaries, fish aggregating devices and Fishcare volunteers.
"Applications are now open for innovative projects to improve recreational fishing in the Dubbo electorate," Deputy Premier and Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said.
"The NSW government is committed to reinvesting the sale of recreational license fees back into the recreational fishing sector.
"These projects are a great opportunity for fishers, clubs and community groups across the electorate to get their own fishing project afloat to enhance and improve local facilities or increase fish stocks."
Applications for funding from the trust made by individual anglers, fishing clubs and local councils are carefully considered to ensure benefits to recreational fishing are maximized.
Projects that will enhance coastline, inland rivers, and dams and lakes will be considered for funding, so interested parties are encouraged to submit an application.
Applications for funding are open until Monday, March 21.
Contributing funding, joint applications and in-kind support or voluntary labour are also encouraged, and more information on the grants can be found by visiting www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/licence-fee/apply-for-funds or email: recreational.fishingtrust@dpi.nsw.gov.au.
