Primary schools that have entered a team in the Paul Kelly Cup are being invited to attend the sessions in order to be at the best when the competition arrives.
The Paul Kelly Cup is the largest school-based AFL competition on offer.
The annual competition involves schools taking part in a series of knockout games resulting in a finals series in which teams get to come together and enjoy the game they love.
Kids participating in the Paul Kelly Cup get to showcase their skills while also getting the chance to rub shoulders with the legends of the game at the same time.
"The Paul Kelly Cup is open to year 5 and 6 students and consists of 12 player teams," Central West AFL Development Officer Matt Johnson said.
"Games are played in a smaller field using modified rules.
"This allows children who are new to AFL to experience and enjoy AFL in a safe and fun environment.
"Teams will play a minimum of three games at AFL Paul Kelly Cup Gala Day in early March."
To provide Dubbo kids with the best opportunity to shine the Dubbo Junior AFL Club is hosting special training session to get schools ready for the competition.
Dubbo Junior AFL acting president Alex Campbell said this was done to ensure locals can compete with other rising stars from around the region.
"Our highly experienced coaches from the Dubbo Junior AFL Club have made themselves available for these sessions and are looking forward to helping Dubbo kids perform at their best on the big stage," he said.
Any interested children are asked to see if they are entering a team in the Paul Kelly Cup.
The first session was well received, with more than 30 youngsters in attendance.
Three more training sessions for Dubbo kids will be held at the South Dubbo Oval during the next three weeks.
The sessions, run on February 14, 21 and 28, will begin at 4pm and all school teams are welcome.
