While Divisions 1 and 2 had the weekend off, the Division 3 and 4 sides both recorded their second consecutive victories.
Both those wins came up against Orange Ex-Services and gives Dubbo the perfect start as they look to defend the titles they won in Divisions 2, 3 and 4 last year.
"Pennants is the only time we play between the clubs so the focus really is on doing the best for our club and representing fairly and showing good sportsmanship," said Dubbo Division 3 player Chris Tongue, before speaking about the weekends matches at Orange's Duntryleague.
"Some matches there was not the best golf but we managed to stay on top of the opposition.
"It wasn't impeccable but in Division 3 we lost one on the first extra hole and that was Ian Smyth and that was his first loss since he's been playing pennants."
While Smyth and Jacob Conte lost, Tongue (1up), Cameron Liddell (3 and 2) and Peter Ipkendanz (7 and 6) recorded wins to get Dubbo across the line 3-2.
Dubbo won Division 4 3-2 as well with Warrick Wheeler (8 and 7), Max Keating (3 and 1) and Grahame Marchant (1up) all recording wins.
Dubbo now enjoy a week off while the competition comes to the local club for round three.
With Divisions 3 and 4 sitting top of the table and Division 2 also recording one win from one round, Tongue said that bodes well for the club going forward.
"We've had back-to-back victories in Orange and that's so unsimilar to the courses out west," he said.
"They play on couch and there's more run on those fairways and that means you can run further into trouble.
"One of the advantages we have out here is that they don't get as much length on their shots because it doesn't run as far."
As for Dubbo's Division 1 side, which lost its opening round, Tongue said there is still plenty of hope but their task is made more difficult by the fact two of their best players are missing.
"Some of our best players, Jones Comerford and James Gleeson are not available because they're playing pennants in Sydney," he said.
"Jones is playing for Bonnie Doon and James plays for Concord so there's two guns out but hopefully they might make it back for one round."
