When the match resumed on Saturday it was in the balance with the Tigers 0-18 in reply to Macquarie's first innings total of 170.
But new ball bowlers Joe Haylock and James Hughes led the Blues to victory, with Haylock taking the first three wickets before Hughes tore through the tail to claim the last four.
Newtown were dismissed for just 90 with Kel Blackett's 20 the top score.
With first innings points wrapped up inside 30 overs of the day's play, Macquarie returned to the crease in search of batting points.
However they fell short of reaching the 300 total run mark as Craig Pettit's five-wicket haul helped dismiss them for just 107.
Pettit ripped through the top order, taking five of the first six wickets.
Only three Macquarie players made double figures in the second dig, with Richard Hawker and Ian Marchant top scoring with 23 each.

RSL-Colts fell just short of recording an outright win on Saturday but Michael Ying Sing's century means they remain firmly on Macquarie's tail at the top of the ladder.
Colts resumed day two of their match with Rugby at 4-141, with first innings points already in the bag after Rugby only made 124 last week.
Ying Sing, starting the day at 43 not out, picked up where he left off despite Shane Groen (31) departing early on.
Jakke Gardiner (24 not out) then provided valuable support for Ying Sing as the young keeper-batsman quickly made his way towards triple figures.
He soon reached the milestone and finished unbeaten on 118 as Colts declared on 5-247, a lead of 123. With 50 overs still remaining in the day the chance of the outright remained but Rugby held firm in their second innings and finished the day at 5-176.
Openers Lachlan Harper (51) and Jack Kempston (42) led the resistance with a 67 run stand while Zac Murphy (36 not out) also chipped in.
Colts' win means they sit less than six points behind Macquarie.

South Dubbo's bowlers did the job at Lady Cutler 3 on Saturday, restricting the CYMS and moving into the top three in the process.
The Hornets batted out day one and posted 9-241, with CYMS knowing their batsmen needed to stand up on day two.
That looked no chance early on when Souths reduced them to an incredible 5-8 but Dan Duffy and Darren Kranias led the fight back and the Cougars finished the day at 9-178.
Kranias made 56 in the 90-run stand while Duffy showed real patience in his knock of 53 not out.
Andrew Cusack starred for Souths in the first innings win, taking 4-26 from 12 overs and not allowing the Cougars batsmen to ever get away.
Michael McCarthy also chipped in with 2-6 from seven overs as the Hornets leapfrogged Rugby into the top three.
