The talent-stacked Hornets currently sit second on the ladder and meet a CYMS side yet to win since the opening round of the season.
While both sides have plenty to play for, the toss may be crucial with the No. 3 Oval potentially playing the biggest role in the match.
While the other two pitches at Victoria Park were covered, No. 3 was not and after the rain on Wednesday and then on Friday there may be plenty of life in the deck.
Both sides have bowlers capable of making the most of any bowler-friendly conditions but Souths would back themselves to perform with an attack featuring the likes of Will Lindsay, Scott Tucker, Henry Railz, Matt Finlay and spinners Mitch Bower and Sam Fraser.
Tim Berry would add another imposing aspect to the attack but he may miss week one of the clash due to him now living more than two hours away at Cowra.
Souths looked set to roll Rugby last week but the final two wickets added 132 runs and the Hornets attack would be determined to not let up this time out as they chased the Whitney Cup minor premiership.
The Cougars come into the match desperate to return to winning ways as they currently remain with just one win despite showing signs of improvement in 2015-16.
Under skipper Ryan Medley the men in green have shown glimpses of brilliance but still crave consistency.
A batting collapse of epic proportions ruined any chance of a win against Macquarie last round and spending more time in the middle with the bat will be the biggest focus this round.
The likes of Medley, Stuart Naden, Matt Ellis and young guns Ben Knaggs and Thomas Nelson all missed out last match and will be looking for a big score against the Hornets' fancied attack.
