Colts, now second on the ladder, weren't assured of victory when play resumed at Lady Cutler 3 with the Tigers 2-61 chasing 168 for victory.
But a sensational spell from Jakke Gardiner ensured the men in red claimed first innings points with ease.
Spinner Gardiner, who claimed two wickets last week before stumps, picked up where he left off and dismissed the dangerous Craig Pettit (43) after just 10 runs had been scored on day two.
That was the beginning of an epic collapse as the Tigers, playing with just 10, lost 7-26 and were all out for just 97.
Gardiner was the star and finished with 6-24 from 10 overs while new ball bowler Geoff Wheeler (2-21) was the only other multiple wicket-taker.
With the sniff of an outright victory, Colts went back in to bat chasing quick runs and at 1-55 after 10 overs they were well in control.
They went on to declare at 5-152 with Shane Groen (45) and Josh Smith (42) the top-scorers.
That left the Tigers with the near impossible target of 223 for victory from just 25 overs but the main aim was avoiding the outright.
While there were some nervy moments the Tigers stood firm and held on to finish at 5-84.

A sporting declaration from CYMS captain Darryl Thompson ensured his side's match with Macquarie ended in some excitement but it was still the Blues who walked away with first innings points.
After dismissing the Cougars for 134 last week, Macquarie seemed to be cruising towards first innings points but the loss of 4-25 ensured there were some nerves in the camp.
Joe Haylock's 44 was the top score but a vital final-wicket partnership of 17 runs between James Hughes (7 not out) and Wasim Khan (6 not out) got the Blues across the line and they then declared 10 runs ahead.
With 44 overs left in the day there was still plenty to play for and Thompson set up some late drama when he declared at 7-92.
Haylock starred with the ball as he took 4-19 from eight but the Cougars decision to field again meant the Blues needed 83 from eight overs to claim an outright win.
The batsmen went hard early but three wickets to Yogi Chawla (3-18) slowed their progress and in the end Macquarie finished at 4-35, ensuring they remain at the top of the ladder.

There wasn't quite as much drama in the final match of Pinnington Cup round seven, with South Dubbo recording a somewhat straight forward win over Rugby.
After posting 225 last week, Souths returned to the field on Saturday with Rugby 0-2.
Four wickets from Andrew Cusack and three from Nathan Astri saw Rugby dismissed for 159, with Max Rumble's 27 the top score.
The Hornets then returned to the crease and finished at 2-67, falling just eight runs short of a 300 total and maximum bonus points.
