Eleven students from the University of NSW (UNSW)-affiliated Creston College, and five Sydney-based Youth with a Mission members, have spent this week running activities with Dubbo children at the Buninyong Primary School hall.
Earlier this month, another 12 UNSW law students volunteered with Apollo House also volunteered at Apollo House.
Elaine Fidel, who co-ordinates Creston's Dubbo service project, said the girls wanted to assist disadvantaged children in NSW, rather than helping people overseas.
"We've been running activities, arts and crafts and sports," Ms Fidel said.
"A lot of us come from backgrounds that are pretty privileged so we come out here...to give back.
"We also tried to do a separate program with the older girls around leadership and we'd like to do more of that."
Apollo House community youth worker Maddie Orth said it was "absolutely excellent" to see so many groups wanting to pitch in at Apollo House.
"With the different cultures, it teaches them [the kids] to respect one another," Ms Orth said.
"They [the volunteers] bring a few new activities with them, and the kids absolutely adore a bit more one-on-one attention than we can normally give them."
