The club awards points to members for on-range and off-range participation such as placegetters for weekly events, attendance, helping out on clean-up days and a variety of other activities.
Awards are also presented on a monthly basis to members who accumulate the most number of points.
Rather than being a man of many hats, Terry is a man of many briefcases who does a mountain of work for the club as treasurer, range officer, trainer, labourer, minder, scorer and sometimes he even gets to join other pistoleers on the line.
Terry's main concern has always been safety on the range and all those who flew under his wing became better members because of it. Usually the first one there and the last to leave, Terry is ably supported by his wife Julie who also does a lot for the club.
Back on the range, the heady perfume of WD40 wafted across from Geoff Luck's bay as 20 shooters lined up for centrefire/sports on Sunday.
There were four centrefire exponents on the day with Peter Post really shooting well taking out first spot with 651 (465, 186).
Bob Dowling was second with 576 (567, 9) and Richard Wheatley third with 540 (448, 92).
Warren Johnson completed the field with 503 (452, 51).
Sports pistol enthusiasts filled the remaining 16 positions on the line.
It was pleasing to see our friends from Orange at the club for the first time this year and it was good to see Jim Strachan back on deck as range officer.
First place went to quiet achiever Jon Bohan with a score of 633 (449, 184).
Second was Brian McMullen 619 (427, 192) and third was Helen Lord with 588 (544, 44).
It is worth noting that Helen, Bob Dowling and Lara Cowling all scored well into the 500s which is no easy feat when you consider a perfect score is 600.
Anyway, other shooters were Travis Johnston 584 (435, 149), Lara Cowling 567 (visitor - 567 without a handicap), Gary Deagan 566 (456, 110), Rebekah Watson 557 (365, 192), Ned Williams 546 (436, 110), Laurence Campbell-Rogers 531 (400, 131), Peter Lord 527 (421, 106), Margi Stevens 522 (465, 57), Peter Caligeros 510 (449, 61), Andrew Cowen 497 (197, 300), Max Fraser 495 (443, 52), Geoff Luck 488 (322, 166) and John Salter 457 (355, 102).
Jeff Wilson (centrefire), Shelby Saffy (sports) and Peter Grilk (sports) were training.
Members would have noticed a bit of blue metal spread across the ranges and the driveway. Many thanks to the workers who did the deed. It was almost a shame to walk across Max's nicely raked surface on Range C.
Next week will be centrefire/sports on Range C and black powder on Range B.
