The funding will come in handy to get the project off the ground a lot sooner, with a timeframe starting production at the end of the year.
If the funds don't come through, developers have said we would still see the project completed, just a little later than it would have been.
The proposed investment would really put Dubbo on the map as an important player in delivering NSW's energy security.
Already we have in the region Australia's largest solar plant, which can be found at Nyngan, as well as another two solar farms at Broken Hill and Moree.
Another at Dubbo will add to the growing popularity of the region for this type of infrastructure.
The project is one of just eight in NSW and 22 across the country vying for $100 million from the AREA.
French company Neoen's proposed 22.4 megawatt Dubbo Solar Hub will see 82,000 solar panels installed across 40 hectares of land south-east of Dubbo and 25 hectares of land to the north of Narromine.
The project will not only support investment in the region, but provide more jobs for the local community.
In Dubbo we are an area that will welcome more jobs, especially in an industry that capitalises on one of our natural resources.
