Canobolas Public School received two Samsung 65 inch large format display units and accessories, which operate like a smart board when they return to school for term 1.
“We use technology a lot at school,” relieving principal Megan Manson said.
“These screens are especially good as they allow two students at once to use the board.”
The staff at the school have received specialised training in the new screens that operate in a different way to the current smart boards that exist.
“These boards are backlit like a LED TV and are multi-use which allow the kids to play games and interact with each other on the screen. This gives these screens the advantage in that they have more functionality built in. Plus they don’t have expensive bulbs that need replacing,” Mrs Manson said.
The interactive screens are essentially giant tablets hooked up to the internet and the digital natives of Canobolas Public School won’t have any problem working out how to get the most from the new technology.
“They’re all so familiar with technology that they kind of take it for granted,” Mrs Manson said.
“These screens are like a huge touch computer screen that’s attached to the wall.”
