Brand has joined up with Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr to form Adam Brand and the Outlaws, a band focused on having fun and giving people plenty of bang for their buck in concert.
In January the group will release its self-titled album, which features a string of well-known songs including Cold Chisel's Working Class Man to Queen's Fat Bottom Girls and Jet's smash Are You Gonna Be My Girl. They released their first single Good Year for the Outlaw to rave reviews.
"I've been coming to Dubbo since I started my career 15-16 years ago and I've always had a great time. I've got a lot of great mates there and I really love the place.
"This time will be a little bit different. I'm coming with a band. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time.
"This group is around for a good time, not a long time. Our concerts are fast-paced, with five guys singing their favourite road trip songs. Don't mistake this show as a serious one full of love ballads because if that's what you want, you will be disappointed."
With 12 golden guitars, three-times platinum and five-times gold albums, Brand is one of the superstars of Australian country music but the rest of the group are also highly credentialled.
McAlister has a slew of Golden Guitars under his belt for both songwriting and performance credits while Collins is a multi-Golden Guitar nominee. Cornell, formerly of the Baby Animals, has fast earned a reputation for his live shows and was a finalist for the CMC New Artist of the Year in 2015 while Carr, best known recently as the creator of two time ARIA-winning comedian Buddy Goode, is a Golden Guitar winning songwriter who has penned many well-known Australian country hits.
Brand said the group had all been good friends and that had made it easy to come together for the collaboration.
"We got into the rehearsal studio and threw some songs together. Some worked and some didn't so we scrapped those and we came up with a list we were really happy with. Choosing songs was easy, it was harder not to end up with a list of 100."
The Outlaws have announced a total of 29 shows including one at Dubbo RSL on Thursday, March 17.
