A number of Rural Fire brigades attended a fire which broke out on the Mudgee Road on Tuesday night.

The fire about 3kms on the Mudgee road near Wellington licked the side of the road and headed toward a quarry.
Rural Fire Service members from Wellington, Maryvale and Mt Arthur were on the scene quickly. The fire was noticed by a passer by just before 6pm.
The outbreak was contained by a number of fire fighters and was under control after at one stage it threatened power lines and posts near the Transgrid sub station.
Motorists heading both ways were asked to proceed with caution by police who were on the scene.
The fire has happened on a day when a total ban was in force. Temperatures topped 38 degrees in Wellington. Police and Fire authorities will investigate the fire.
