Taronga Western Plains Zoo is the perfect place to bring the family these holidays, or any visitors who have decided to stay on for a few days.
Come out for a great day of adventure and experience some great encounters.
For early risers there are early morning walks. Participants will experience a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo and learn interesting facts from their knowledgeable guide.
Early morning walks operate Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays during the school holidays at 6.45am. The Early Morning Walk is just $15 per adult and $7 per child (in addition to zoo entry), a perfect gift for someone hard to buy for this Christmas.
Looking to completely wow your guests? Why not book them in for a heart-pumping encounter with a Sumatran tiger.
Participants will come face to face with one of these incredible big cats. Cost is $59 per person in addition to zoo admission. The Big Cat Encounter operates daily at 12pm.
For an experience truly memorable for the whole family you can not go past the Giraffes in Focus encounter. It is an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with the zoo's tallest residents.
This experience allows visitors to hand feed a giraffe from the zoo's Giraffe Boardwalk feeding area.
As part of the experience, visitors are able to feed a few pieces of carrot to the eager and inquisitive giraffes and have a photo snapped before the carrot disappears down the giraffe's long neck.
The Giraffe in Focus encounter is $7 per person in addition to zoo admission. There are no age restrictions for this encounter however children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult.
The Giraffes in Focus experience operates daily at 10.10am with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Do not forget if you live in the local area you can access discounted one day Mates Rates admission, or a Zoo Friends annual pass for just $37 plus joining fee.
