Minimum-security prisoner John Robert Bamblett, 35, escaped from a transport van at West Wyalong on November 5 and was last seen running into bushland near the Newell Highway, about 6km north of West Wyalong, that day.
Last month a 33-year-old Gilgandra woman was charged with harbouring an escapee, and a spokesperson for Orana Local Area Command said police had information to suggest Bamblett could still be in Gilgandra.
The spokesperson, while thankful for details that had already been provided to police, said it was possible some people were withholding information.
Bamblett is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, around 183cm tall and weighing 75kg.
He has tattoos on both arms and was last seen wearing a green prison uniform.
He is usually held in Ivanhoe Correctional Centre.
Police are warning the public not to approach Bamblett if they see him, but to instead contact triple-0 immediately.
