DUBBO kicked off their 2015-16 Brewery Shield in emphatic fashion on Sunday, comprehensively defeating Narromine at No.2 Oval.
Last season's runners-up were far too strong from start to finish, winning by a comfortable 142 runs.
After skipper Matt Ellis won the toss and batted, Rugby young guns Nick Karydis and Patrick Berryman did the brunt of the damage, both scoring half centuries as Dubbo scored 9-249.
The home side were already well-placed when Karydis came to the crease after Berryman (50) and Michael Ying Sing (33) scored 64 for the second wicket.
Dan French chipped in with 26 while Karydis kept things ticking over in the middle and finished unbeaten on 59.
It was a patient knock from the Rugby all-rounder, only hitting one boundary in his first 20 scoring shots.
Barber chipped in with 18 late on as Dubbo ensured they batted out the full 50 overs.
Narromine skipper Kale Bock was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-37 with his spin while Strath Munro and Alex Sambrook were the only other wicket-takers.
The only negative for Dubbo was the three run outs, with running between the wickets seemingly something to work on going forward as the new-look team gets used to playing with each other more.
The match was virtually over six overs into the run chase, with Narromine reduced to 3-16.
Greg Kerr, who had blasted 93 for Newtown in the Whitney Cup last round, was a key wicket and he fell first with the score only on one.
Blake Watmore and Tyler Woodrow impressed with the new ball, taking 2-15 and 1-13 respectively and Narromine never recovered from that opening spell.
Jacob Short top scored with just 21 while only two other players reached double figures as the visitors fell well short, only making 107.
Newtown spinner Tom Barber ripped through the lower order to finish with 3-30 while Adlai Shipp also impressed in his Brewery Shield debut and took 2-6 from three overs.
Karydis (1-11 off five) was the other wicket-taker.
It was a complete performance from Dubbo with one of the biggest positives being eight of the 10 wickets they took were bowled, proving the good lines bowled all day.
