A White Ribbon Day Launch is on at the Church Street Rotunda at 11am, and will be immediately followed by the inaugural White Ribbon Men's High Heel Run at Ollie Robbins Oval.

Both events are not only free for all to participate in, but organisers have encouraged as many people as possible to attend and show their support in the fight against the abhorrent crime.

The two events planned for Wednesday are part of a wider approach that was taken as part of a Dubbo Violence Prevention Month, which has aimed to raise awareness of domestic violence through many community events.

Domestic Violence Prevention Month member Graeme Cheetham is hoping to see a really strong turnout at both events.

"At the launch we will be unveiling a new poster that is going to be circulated around town," he said.

"Dubbo's White Ribbon ambassador Kevin Saul will also be speaking which is great.

"We will then move down to Ollie Robbins Oval and we encourage as many people to give that a go as possible.

"There will be a barbecue and a number of service providers will be there as well."

Parkes MP Mark Coulton threw his support behind all the initiatives that were organised to raise awareness of domestic violence, knowing it was a very serious issue for many communities in his electorate.

"Unfortunately Dubbo and the far west region have been identified as being above average," he said.

"Anything that highlights the problems and helps reduce it is a great thing.

"It isn't just men against women but in those instances it is one of the lowest acts.

"Domestic violence should never be accepted and we need to stamp it out."

Following on from Wednesday, there will be a White Ribbon Forum at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club on Friday which will see a number of service providers and guest speakers address those in attendance.

That night, a White Ribbon gala ball will be held at the RSL with all funds raised to go towards violence prevention programs.
