That run continued at Narromine on Saturday when the Gulgong-based trainer landed a winning double with Talimena and Tumbling Dice.
Talimena showed great tactical speed to overcome a wide gate and score an easy win in the Phillip Redden Memorial Class 1 Handicap (1100m).
Jockey Leanne Henry had no worries being able to get Talimena ($9.00) across from her wide gate, with the well-bred daughter of Lonhro able to dictate once she found the front.
Owned by a syndicate that includes Andrew Ferguson's Bell River Thoroughbreds and former Dubbo businessman Lloyd Walker, Talimena's future is as a broodmare but judging on the ease of Saturday's win there could be more wins in store for her before she heads to the breeding barn.
Talimena led all the way to beat Snippety Sip ($4.00 fav, Kody Nestor) by two-and-a-quarter lengths, with Decades ($6.50, Jacob Gilchrist) a further length away in third place.
The win was the four-year-old's second from just seven starts and took her earnings to just shy of $15,000.
Earlier, Tumbling Dice ($8.00) had also done a good job for Thompson, narrowly defeating Return Journey ($21.00, Ken Dunbar) under the urgings of impressive young rider Adam Sewell.
The pair cleared out to beat Kikimora ($4.00, Anthony Cavallo), which ran well on her return to the racetrack.
Nyngan trainer Rodney Robb also had a winning double on the Narromine program, with Show Fly and Intombi both saluting.
Show Fly ($2.10 fav, Kody Nestor) broke through after a string of good runs when he beat Rise Me Up ($3.50, Erhan Kacmaz) in the Les Gibson Memorial Maiden Handicap (1200m) while Intombi's win came as a bit more of a shock, the four-year-old Dubelo (USA) x Briannon mare starting a $9.00 chance when winning the Bourchier's Fuel Services Maiden Handicap (1200m) for apprentice Clayton Gallagher.
