A 93-run stand between Tim Beckenham and Jesse Spang helped set up the win as Newtown posted 6-211 before rolling the Gold Hornets for just 73.
Souths only had eight men, making life hard in the field, and Newtown capitalised with opener Dave Brown posting 57 before Spang joined Beckenham at the crease.
Beckenham made 63 while Spang fell just short of a half century, making 43, but the team score still passed 200.
In reply, only Matt Wakely (26) and Nathan Astri (22) made double figures for Souths Gold and three wickets to Matt Lincoln led Newtown to a comfortable win.
