Being someone who survived breast cancer three years ago, and then had a sarcoma in her leg the following year, Ms Taylor believed it was important she was out there supporting her family, friends and the Cancer Council on the walk.

"Today (Saturday) is a great chance to give something back," she said.

"I'm still here and have hope for the future and that is the case for everyone who has been diagnosed."

Along with Ms Taylor, her husband Matthew was also a cancer survivor, after he had a sarcoma removed from his head five years ago.

Ms Taylor, who joined the Orana Relay for Life organising committee this year, was pleased to see such a strong representation of the Dubbo community at the event.

"The community coming together and showing support for each other is such a great thing to see," she said.

"It is great all the carers and cancer survivors are recognised, and all the money that is raised goes toward research which is fantastic.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to the Cancer Council as without their support fundraising events like this wouldn't happen."
