Teacher Lisa Wilson described the cohort of 25 students as "dedicated", with many having spent holidays working tirelessly on projects.
Some had the additional challenge of having sat the Food Technology exam on the Wednesday morning, before sitting the Visual Arts exam that afternoon.
Hamish Duffy-White, Caitlyn Coman-Sargent, Madelaine Fern and Sam Read were among students who told the Daily Liberal they were now looking forward to the next stage of their lives.
Hamish said he hoped to continue on a creative career path, possibly in languages, while Caitlyn planned to pursue studies in theatre and performance.
Sam said he had "lived and breathed art" this year and expected it to be a part of his life for years to come.
Madelaine also loved the subject and said she hoped to study art history.
Ms Wilson described the exam paper as "very contemporary" and said work the students had done during the year would have put them in especially good stead for the questions on installation art and artwork in the public space.
Indeed, earlier this year Dubbo students had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with acclaimed performance artist Marina Abramovic.
Some 642 students across the Dubbo electorate sat the HSC in 2015, with 12,000 students statewide taking part in exams on the final day. Students could expect to get their HSC results on December 16.
