Eighteen holes of par-three golf will confront a field that once again is expected to surpass the 200 mark, with a number of local businesses getting behind the shortened format of the game that will be showcased on Sunday, October 25.
The Bullseye is the brainchild of local golfer Ivor Trapman and will see every hole transformed into a par-three with prizes up for grabs on each hole.
Hole 18 is the one that everyone will be gunning for though, with the first hole-in-one recorded earning the lucky player a choice of six new cars.
“We might have no hole-in-ones or we might have a few,” Trapman said.
“But if it happens the first person to record one [on the 18th hole] will get their choice of one of six cars, valued at $20,000.
“Sainsbury Automotive have put up either a Hyundai i30 or a Tata 4x2, Golden West Holden has put up a Holden Barina or a Holden Cruze, Lindsay Mumford Suzuki has a Suzuki Swift and Dubbo City
Toyota has put forward a Toyota Yaris.
“We haven’t had the car go off yet in the couple of years that we’ve been having this tournament but one day it will go off, hopefully it’s this year.”
While the cars are the main fare on offer, each hole will carry a prize and there will also be some nearest to pin competitions to be won.
A barbecue courtesy of Brennan’s Mitre 10, a large tent from Red Dirt Camping and televisions and computers from Harvey Norman are just some of the other prizes on offer on the day.
“We’re really lucky that so many businesses have got behind the event, and the number of players competing is rising each year as well,” Trapman said.
“You don’t need to be a member of the club to play, and the hope is that we can introduce more people to the game and they might take it up on a more regular basis.”
Entry into the Bullseye Championship is $45 per player, which includes breakfast or lunch depending on whether you opt for the 7.30am or 12.30pm tee time.
Money raised from the event will be donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and bookings can be made by contacting the Dubbo Golf Club Pro Shop on 6882 2201.
