Kay shot 169 targets from 200 and put his win down to concentrating and getting himself mentally focused on what the target range setters had prepared, and being able to work out what the clay target was doing in the air.
Field and game clay target shooting has targets presented in several different ways to traditional trap shooting.
The clay targets simulate birds and game in the field and are moving quickly in the air from right to left, left to right, from behind and even coming at the shooter from distances between five metres to 40 metres away.
Peter will now represent NSW in the state team at the National Clay Target Shooting titles later this month in Geelong after winning the state title.
Other Dubbo Field and Game clay target club shooters were awarded honours on the weekend with Luke Cross placing in B-grade and John Sidoti in the veteran's grade, also in the medal count with a placing.
