Mudgee-based real estate agent Hugh Bateman hopes to raise $250,000 and awareness for the McGrath Foundation with a 2600-kilometre expedition across NSW aboard a repainted Massey Ferguson.
The Pink Tractor Trek has received a boost from the realty community at Dubbo, where he will make his first stop along the way.
The Real Estate Institute of NSW - Orana division has organised a fundraising evening and welcome for Mr Bateman, including some fast-paced fun when signed cricket memorabilia goes to auction.
Up for grabs to the highest bidder are a cap and a bat signed by former Test cricketer Glenn McGrath, who with his late wife Jane set up the McGrath Foundation in 2005.
Since it was established a decade ago, the foundation has brought 105 McGrath Breast Care Nurses to communities across Australia, who have supported more than 36,000 families.
A cricket bat adorned with Brad Haddin's autograph is also among the 20 auction items that have been donated by local businesses.
The novice auctioneers will battle it out on stage, auctioning bottles of wine.
Organising committee member Shayna Chapman said Mr Bateman had a target of $250,000 and their division would like to contribute as much as possible.
After Dubbo, Mr Bateman plans to travel to Orange, Griffith, Wollongong, Sydney, Port Stephens, Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour, before returning home via Muswellbrook.
Mr Bateman said the itinerary had been planned to take in a wide sweep of the state, reflecting the geographically "indiscriminate" nature of breast cancer and the scale of the task facing the McGrath Foundation.
"It costs more than $13 million a year to fund these nurses, and to mark the 10th anniversary of the foundation, the aim this year is to lift the number of nurses to 110," Mr Bateman said.
