The Newcastle side were the first to advance after defeating the La Perouse Panthers 22-0 in the 9.05am semi and that was followed up by a top-quality clash between Redfern and the Newcastle Yowies.
Both Redfern All Blacks No. 1 and the Yowies have star-studded lineups and two of Redfern's biggest names, Nathan Merritt and Reece Robinson, both crossed in the 30-18 win.
The Yowies were hampered by cramps to fan favourite and leader Timana Tahu which limited his time on the field while they also lost powerful prop Reggie Saunders to injury late on.
Redfern were the first try scorers when Merritt clinically finished off a sweeping right to left move but 11 minutes in it was all square at 6-all after standout Yowies hooker Darcy Elrich got across the line.
Kareel Phillips got his side back in front again soon after but the Yowies wouldn't go away and it was soon locked up again at 12 apiece when Saunders powered his way across.
Approaching half time the Yowies were disallowed a try for a forward pass and Redfern made them pay in the final seconds with Phillips setting up a try right under the black dot.
The conversion made it 18-12 at the break and both sides began slowly in the second half and the Yowies soon had another forward pass ruining another try and Adrian Davis' remonstrations with the referee saw him sin-binned.
It did little to halt the Yowies momentum though and Elrich darted across from dummyhalf to get his second and Niko Roberts' conversion again had it level.
But one of the moments of the match occurred shortly after.
The Yowies were right on the attack and on the fifth tackle played a grubber towards the in goal but Reece Robinson, possibly in his final matches in rugby league with links to the NSW Waratahs continuing, scooped it up and raced the length of the field and planted the ball down under the black dot.
Down 24-18 the Yowies were getting desperate and losing Saunders to a knee injury didn't help and the game was wrapped up two minutes from time when the All Blacks crossed again to seal a 30-18 victory.
That result ruined the chance of an all-Newcastle final after the Newcastle All Blacks had earlier cruised past La Perouse.
The All Blacks were always in total control and after leading 10-0 at half time they went on with the job and won 22-0.
The grand final will be played at 3pm at Caltex Park.
