If they have any questions regarding whether it would be a success or not, they only need to look at the staging of the NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout to get their answer.
Massive crowds flooded into Caltex Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with another bumper crowd expected on Monday for the finals, and everywhere you went there was a great buzz at Dubbo.
The atmosphere at the ground was fantastic.
The footy was played with great intent, toughness and a lot of skill, and the crowds brought out the best in the players through their boisterous support.
Through the Koori Knockout, and the NRL Country versus City game last year, Dubbo and the surrounding towns have shown they love their sport and strongly get behind the events that are brought to Dubbo.
Dubbo and the businesses in the city benefit greatly from the staging of these events.
With the facilities in place, flights to Brisbane and hopefully flights announced to Melbourne soon, and an engaged community that loves its sport, it seems a no-brainer for a sporting team to bring games out here on a regular basis and build a relationship with the region.
Hopefully councillors and the state and federal members of parliament are all lobbying on Dubbo's behalf to ensure the city gets more events like the Koori Knockout, as the community have shown through their support they deserve them.
