As the Koori Knockout is the biggest annual gathering of Aboriginal people in NSW, NTSCORP CEO Natalie Rotumah said its the perfect opportunity for people to get information on Native Title, which recognises the rights and interests of Aboriginal people to lands and waters held according to traditional laws and customs.
"It is a significant cultural event on the calendar with teams and supporters from throughout NSW coming together to celebrate our love of football and family," she said.
"Many of the teams are made up of players with a traditional connection to the area they are representing.
"We assist traditional owners with several nearby claims, including Tubba-Gah Wiradjuri and Ngemba, Ngiyampaa, Wangaaypuwan and Wayilwan, and the weekend will allow us to provide updates to the claimants on recent developments.
"We will have a map on display showing all the current claims in NSW."
Ms Rotumah also said that the NTSCORP research team, headed by Dr Ken Lum, would be at the Koori Knockout taking genealogical requests from native title claimants.
"Our research team are well known for tracing Aboriginal people's families to over 10 generations in some instances," she said.
NTSCORP has completed over 3,500 family trees for Aboriginal people in the past 10 years.
The NTSCORP stall will operate a stall for the four days on the Knockout carnival.
