The Logie award-winning host of Channel Nine's The Block told of the first-hand reports of a thriving local industry he had received during his visit to Dubbo at the weekend.
"I do get the sense (the people here) are keen renovators and also there seems to be a lot of work going on in Dubbo," Cam said.
"I've spoken to a lot of the tradesmen here in town and they're saying there's so much work going on and that means the people of Dubbo are renovating because of all this work.
"And all the chippies that I've spoken to said they're flat-stick with six, eight months' work ahead of them."
Cam downed tools to be part of the grand opening of the new-look Brennan's Mitre 10 on Sunday.
No stranger to the region, he said this year he had finished a project at Mudgee where he had a place.
"I love my trade and getting the nail bag on," he said.
"I've just finished building a house out at Mudgee... so I love doing that, lots of recycled timber and stuff like that.
"I've got a sawmill out there as well and I mill my own timber a lot of the time."
Carmel and Eliza Koerstz were two of the many fans to have their photo with Cam.
"He's just as nice in real life as he is on TV," Mrs Koerstz said.
"We do watch The Block, we've watched it for a few years and he's a great guy, we enjoy it."
Michael Brennan from Brennan's Mitre 10 said the store had undergone renovations for eight weeks before the grand opening of its new look.
The Dubbo store was a pilot store for Mitre 10 and the third to undergo the works, he said.
"We've had probably four lots of Block contestants here over the years and then to get the big kahuna out here was a real privilege to us," Mr Brennan said.
