Hopkins and her cast and crew will be stationed at Mr Bean's Coffee Emporium on Saturday, September 19 to film their seven-minute film, The Customer Is Always Right.
Still running on a high after her successful filming of The Station earlier this year, Hopkins said if chosen, the film would be screened with all the other finalists at the highly esteemed festival on December 6.
The plot for The Customer Is Always Right circulates around the main protagonist, a barista with a craft obsession with coffee art.
Hopkins said there was a few twists and turns in the seven-minute script, which must include the 2015 Tropfest Signature Item, a card.
"The barista receives some negative feedback from customers which contributes to the character's downfall," she said.
"He may or may not be a murderer."
Hopkins said she had enjoyed working with her talented cast.
With Sam Paine set to portray the crazed barista, Hopkins said she had found her other cast mates after seeing their involvement with the Kaldor Public Art Pilot Regional Engagement Project earlier this year.
"I was amazed at their take on performance art and I'm so glad they could all be involved in my film," she said.
The film editing will begin shortly after the weekend, with Tropfest Australia 2015 submissions closing on October 8.
