The Cummings family has granted the Australian Turf Club special permission to honour the legendary Bart Cummings at Chelmsford Stakes day at Randwick on Saturday. The ATC will repaint sections of the lawn in the Theatre of the Horse green and gold in honour of the 12-time Melbourne Cup winner's famous colours, while flags will also bear the same distinct markings. Jockeys will wear black armbands, while a minute's silence will be held on course to complement a special souvenir racebook and condolence book available to be signed by ATC members. Cummings' old warhorse, Precedence, will be granted special permission to lead the Chelmsford Stakes field out as he ramps up preparations for a potential fifth Melbourne Cup start. "In offering our support and condolences to the Cummings family, we are grateful that they have agreed to these special tributes on Saturday," Australian Turf Club chief executive officer Darren Pearce said.
