EARLIER: A man and woman are assisting with inquiries after two police officers were involved in a crash in Orange on Thursday morning.
About 12.40am police from Canobolas Local Area Command were patrolling Bathurst Road following reports that a car had failed to pay for petrol at a nearby service station when they observed a Holden Commodore allegedly travelling at high speed.
Police turned around in an attempt to find the car.
While police were driving on the Mitchell Highway near the intersection of Dairy Creek Road they crashed into the Commodore at a bend in the road.
The police truck rolled following the crash.
Initial investigations suggest that a prior to the crash the driver of the Commodore crashed into a guardrail and came to rest in the middle of the road.
The driver of the Commodore, a woman believed to be aged in her late 20s or early 30s, and passenger, a man also believed to be aged in his late 20s or early 30s, were treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Orange hospital.
They are currently assisting with inquiries.
The two officers, both men, were also treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Orange hospital as a precaution.
All injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The Mitchell Highway is closed in both directions between Dairy Creek Road and the Northern Distributor as investigations take place.
Diversions are in place.
Investigations are continuing and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
