More than 80 nationalities in the central west will gather in Dubbo on September 5 to celebrate and respect other cultures and countries, thanks to $15,000 funded by Dubbo City Council, who have been involved with the festival since 2008.
Starting at 1.30pm, the highly anticipated street parade will kick of at 2pm at the Church Street Rotunda and ending at the Dubbo City Council car park.
Once settled at the car park, residents and Multicultural Festival participants will enjoy an afternoon of fun with plenty of live entertainment and foreign delicacies.
Multicultural Festival committee chair Monika McDonald said she expected the event to draw in close to 400 people.
Ms McDonald said the committee were pleased to announce the Inka Marka Andes band would be part of the entertainment on the day, along with 25 Hungarian dancers.
"The Inka Marka will also be performing at our function on Friday, September 4 at Wesley Hall," she said.
The annual dinner, starting at 5.30pm at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) , will be catered by one of Dubbo's leading chefs Brian Perera.
Committee members, Esperence Wahbi, from Syria, and Vic Avila, from the Philippines, said they both thought the Multicultural Festival was an excellent opportunity for people to experience other cultures not familiar to them.
"It's a time to share food, dance and sing," Ms Wahbi said.
"It's wonderful to expose the community to so many different cultures."
Ms Wahbi said she felt the festival had allowed her to feel more comfortable in Dubbo, which she hoped other residents would experience.
Mr Avila said he saw the festival as a chance to remove stereotypes and generalisations of the Asian continent.
"Most people don't really how different each country in Asia is," he said.
"We want people to learn about and appreciate what everyone has to share."
