TWO hundred players would be ideal for the Dubbo Veteran's Week of Golf, but for that to happen local members would need to support the event.

That's the hope of tournament director John Dixon.
The 13th annual event will be played across four days starting on Monday, September 14.
Visitors from no less than 40 clubs in NSW and Queensland have submitted entries but Dixon is hoping the local players will respond in the next couple of weeks.
"At this stage we have something like 105 male entries and 65 from the ladies but bearing in mind that Dubbo veterans club has 200 members it would great if our local people could submit entries," Dixon, the Dubbo Veterans president, said.
"Our pre-tournament entries will be taken until September 5 and then draws will be done and tee times posted on the Dubbo Golf Club website.
"We are delighted with the response from visitors but as we often find the local players are the last to enter. Our ladies numbers are a bit down so we'd love for the local ladies to really get behind the event."
Dixon has been organising the tournament for 11 of those 13 years and is confident of an outstanding week of golf.
"Once again we have had tremendous support for trophies from local businesses and individuals. Dubbo has a treasured reputation for the quality of its tournament trophies and it won't be any different this year," he said.
"Golden West Holden is back with us again as the major sponsor of the 36-hole stableford event for ladies and men with 18 holes played on the Monday and Tuesday to start the tournament."
The tournament's opening two days will have handicap and stroke events for three grades for the men and two for the ladies.
Wednesday is a free day and visitors are expected to enjoy the tourist attractions across the city, while some others will play in the Dubbo men's event on the same day.
It is back to the tournament on the Thursday with further stableford events across all the grades, this time trophies are coming from the NSW Veterans Golf Association.
Friday will close down the week of golf with a two-person medley after a shotgun start at 8.30am catering for men and ladies.
Dixon said another feature of the tournament was the social aspect.
"We have a big number of our regular people coming back again and we're looking forward to seeing them," he said.
"There will be a gathering at the golf club on the Sunday afternoon, then on the Thursday night our tournament dinner will be held upstairs in the function room when all the major trophy winners will be acknowledged. Lorraine Mindham is looking after the catering and entertainment has been organised.
"As well, morning tea will be available each day as well as lunch.
"The organising committee has been working towards a great week with the golf course's 27-holes being played during the four days of competition.
"The main focus of the committee is now to encourage our local members to submit entries."
