But Wellington Cowboys captain-coach and Whitney's Jewellers Player of the Year Justin Toomey-White believes there's only a couple of small things stopping his side from defeating the Spacemen and advancing to the 2015 Group 11 decider against Dubbo CYMS.
The Cowboys and Spacemen meet in another preliminary final on Sunday, this time at Forbes' Spooner Oval.
The two teams met just two weeks ago with Parkes winning the major semi-final 26-18 but Toomey-White said his side go into the elimination match in good spirits after an impressive 28-18 win over Westside last week.
"It's just those little fundamental errors the last few times and they've capitalised on that and we haven't capitalised on theirs but that's something we can fix," Toomey-White said.
"We knew last week was going to be tough but we fought hard and defended well when we needed to.
"We've spoken about it and we're all feeling alright but we know we've got a massive job."
Sunday's clash sees the competition's two most dangerous attacks go head-to-head after both sides scored 674 points in the regular season.
With the Cowboys possessing the likes of Toomey-White, Joey Williams and Kotoni Staggs and Parkes featuring Dennis Moran, Brendan Tago and Alex Prout the match has all the makings of a classic but the Spacemen enter the match with a number of injury doubts.
Despite Sam Dwyer and Michael Mitchell expected to be missing for Parkes on Sunday, Toomey-White was adamant it didn't make his side's task any easier.
"It's going to be a tough match and credit to Parkes, they're a great side and they only just lost to CYMS last week so they're going to be fired up and it's shaping as a great match," he said.
"They're a great club and we know whoever comes in will do a job for them so we've just got to prepare for our own game."
Toomey-White capped off a stellar 2015 with the Player of the Year prize at Friday night's inaugural Group 11 presentation dinner but played down his own performances, staying firmly focused on the task at hand.
"I'm not one to talk myself up, it's because of the boys around me and the core group of guys who let me do my job," he said.
"I just want to do my best for my town and my club."
Wellington have produced some of their best football in some time this season and remain the only team to have defeated CYMS in 2015.
They enter Sunday's match with virtually a clean bill of health and Toomey-White admitted it would be a special day for the Cowboys if they were to win on Sunday.
"We've been right there but fallen a game short for a couple of years but the boys relish this time of year and it would mean a lot to the boys and the people who have put in the hard work," he said.
"But we know we've got a tough 80 minutes ahead of us."
