Minor premiers Dubbo FC met Orana Spurs in the minor semi-final while South Dubbo Wanderers and Macquarie United both put their season on the line in the minor semi.
Despite both matches kicking off on time neither game could be finished with the heavy rain, which started on Saturday night and continued right through game day, leaving the fields in no condition to play on.
Incredibly it means half of the minor semi-final still has to be played after referees made the decision to call the match off with Wanderers and Macquarie locked at 1-all.
Dubbo FC got out to a 3-1 lead when the major semi was called off with 29 minutes to play and on Tuesday morning Spurs announced they had forfeited the rest of the match meaning the Bulls are straight through to yet another grand final.
Spurs must now await the winner of the Wanderers-Macquarie match which looks set to be finished on Thursday night. But with the rain continuing this week even that is not certain yet. A pitch inspection on Thursday morning is set to be crucial with the match potentially being moved to Hans Claven or Lady Cutler 5 or 6.
But that matters little to the Bulls now as they have two weeks to prepare to defend their title on September 6 and Scott Fox is hopeful his side have a better field to play to that day.
"The field was terrible," he said of Sunday's surface.
"They'd played three games on it earlier and it was chopped up and just middle in the middle. It was impossible to put passes together along the ground and people were slipping over all match."
While most of the pitch was a bog on Sunday, the Bulls still found space to work down the flanks with star wingers Gareth Williams and Kobe Rapley becoming even more influential than normal.
Williams set up Fox for the opener but Spurs hit back shortly after with the condition of the pitch making the match a far more even contest.
The match was a heated one with the referee brandishing three yellow cards for one incident midway through the first half but Bulls responded the best and Rapley soon set up the Bulls' second with Williams latching on to his cross.
In the second half Rapley set up Fox for his side's third and with the pitch deteriorating that's how it stayed until the referee made the call to halt proceedings.
The final 29 minutes was set to be played Thursday but Spurs opted to forfeit meaning the Bulls are still yet to taste defeated in 2015.
"It's a bit of a relief if I'm honest, the pressure has been on us to make the grand final and now we're there," Fox said.
"We've been undefeated all year and two years ago we did that and lost the grand final so that's still in the back of our minds so we've got to train hard for the next two weeks."
All the attention now is on the second half of the Macquarie-Wanderers match with it scheduled to be played on Thursday at 6.30pm with the winner facing Spurs on Sunday.
