Central West chief steward Todd Smith inspected the track on Sunday afternoon after close to an inch of rain fell, and he would conduct another inspection at 6.30am this morning.

But Nestor said whether the meeting went ahead or not Danish Lace and Nicolou would not be running.

"They're both first up and if the meeting is on it will be on a bog so I'm not going to take that risk with them," Nestor said.

"It's just too hard on the horses to run first up on a bottomless track and then expect them to get very far into a preparation.

"They're both nice enough horses and I think they can win some races so I won't flatten them by running on Monday (today)."

All three of Nestor's other runners will go around though, with Duke Of Berat and War Groom the pick of them.

Duke Of Berat, owned by long-time stable clients Mark and Lyn Betar, has been a frustrating conveyance for Nestor, racking up minor placings at his past four starts.

But with a solid fitness base under his belt, a slogging mile under wet conditions could be just what he is looking for.

"He's a one-paced horse that still does plenty wrong, but I reckon he has a TAB win in him somewhere," Nestor said.

"I don't think the Benchmark 55 races are overly strong, and even though he has to take on some horses that have won races he also goes from carrying 59 kilograms in those set weights maiden plate races to the minimum of 54 kilograms in today's race.

"War Groom has also been going well this preparation but he's just been beaten by a better horse in his last couple of runs.

"Kody rode him well at Forbes last time, he got the inside run in the straight but he was beaten fairly and squarely.

"The good thing is they're both running well and earning some prizemoney to pay the bills for their owners."

Nestor will also line up Tuliman in a 1420m event however he said the gelding, which has had two runs back this time in, would benefit from stepping up even further in trip.

"All his form last time was over a mile or further and he'll need that again this time in," Nestor said.

"His first-up run was good but he didn't sprint last time. He might be another one that appreciates a slog on a really wet track."
