The CBD needs a new bright and lively name to continue the spark the Ignite initiative has started, according to Dubbo councillor Allan Smith.

Cr Smith floated the idea during the Planning and Development Committee meeting earlier in the week during discussions of the Ignite Our Centre project.
"We shouldn't call it just the CBD because it's too bland," Cr Smith said.
"I like Macquarie Central- because Macquarie River, it is Macquarie Street, it's in the centre- or Macquarie Place.
"It illuminates in people's mind what it is. It's a place to go and shop, but it's also a place to buy coffee, you can go to the movies, you can see a doctor. It's a lot more than just shopping."
Cr Smith said the CBD should also have a manager, similar to a shopping centre, to oversee joint projects and promotions.
An area manager was one of 50 ideas that could be developed and implemented within five years, whittled down from 457 submissions .
Another suggestion called for the consideration of a Section 94a contributions regime for the CBD to encourage development.
Councillor Ben Shields said he would like to get rid of section 94 contributions altogether.
"I suggest it's potentially scaring away a lot of business in the CBD," he said.
"Nothing really gets people into the streets and promotes growth, more people, more feet on the ground, than further development."
Other ideas include better signage for free parking areas, the development of an app to provide information about prominent heritage sites within the CBD, water bottle refill stations throughout the CBD, food markets and free WiFi locations.
The next step of Ignite the Centre is to turn the 50 Bright Ideas into a plan which will be presented to council before going on public exhibition.
Under the current timetable the adoption of the overall plan will take place in December.
The community engagement ran from March 30 to June 5 and generated more than 1,000 ideas on ways to improve the CBD.
Some of the 50 Bright Ideas:
o provision of infrastructure for people with dogs.
o enable pop-up eateries at key sites in the CBD.
o facade promotion competitions for landlords to tidy up shopfronts.
o encourage artists to paint murals on vacant walls.
o investigate options for CBD shopping tours.
o demolish the NPWS/Commonwealth bank building to create a piazza space.
o investigate options for permanent lighting installations in the CBD.
o upgrade the LH Ford Bridge.
o investigate options for the provision of a children's playground.
o encourage more public art, such as sculptures.
